Toyota combines active 4WD with Hill-start Assist Control and Downhill Assist Control* to take the challenge out of steep inclines so you're always in control.

  • Active 4WD enhances your control on all surfaces and improves fuel economy, so you can venture even further off the beaten track and know you'll make it home safely. Downhill Assist Control* (DAC) and Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) will take the challenge out of steep inclines. The Active Braking with intelligence (AB-i) including Anti-skid Braking System (ABS) will minimise your stopping distance without skidding or loss of control. And Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC) will assist you in keeping your cool on tough terrain.
    Active Torque Control 4WD system enhances your control on all surfaces, giving you grip when you need it by automatically switching from a front wheel to All Wheel Drive (AWD). The result? The dual benefit of excellent traction control and fuel economy. And to ease the challenge of steep climbs or declines, RAV4 comes with Hill Start Assist Control and Downhill Assist Control*
