The petrol engine and electric motor always operate at their most efficiently, regardless of throttle or vehicle speed. Standard automatic transmissions have a fixed number of gear combinations and ratios. Powerful, smooth acceleration
You can ease up to speeds of around 40km/h on the electric motor alone, but once you really apply the accelerator, the petrol engine kicks in for effortless overtaking and hill climbs, or when you need it most. During coasting, deceleration or braking, kinetic energy, which would normally be lost, is cleverly captured by the Hybrid Synergy Drive system, and then used to charge the hybrid battery. |
