VDIM integrates steering with braking, vehicle stability and traction controls.
Hybrid Camry's VDIM integrates Electric Power Steering (EPS) with Toyota's Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Anti-skid Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) and Traction Control (TRC). ABS minimises wheel lock-up when braking, while EBD distributes the brake force to each wheel according to the road conditions and vehicle load. Brake Assist adds a quicker application of full brake pressure when you need it. Hybrid Camry's locally tuned Electric Power Steering (EPS) also interacts with the car's Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) system. These systems work together to ensure a prompt response from on-board safety technologies, automatically correcting under- or over-steer and keeping you unwaveringly steady. The advanced aerodynamic performance helps the Hybrid Camry reduce both its fuel consumption and produce a whisper quiet cabin experience for driver and passengers. |

Toyota's most advanced safety system While each safety system uses a range of sensors individually, VDIM uses them all collectively. It picks up a range of information including wheel rotation, how far the throttle is open and braking pressure on each of the four wheels. By comparing these sources of information, VDIM electronically activates the various safety systems to make the car more responsive to you - enhancing overall dynamic performance. So when a series of sensors anticipates the potential for a loss of traction or control, the system uses a combination of individual-wheel braking, throttle activation and steering assistance to seamlessly correct the potential skid situation even before you sense any trouble.
